It was a fantastic day yesterday with the children in Terrazas del Valle. I rented two medium size buses and we bused in some of the kids from Centro de Amor to share in the fiesta “Del
Diá del Corazon” (day of the heart). We had 350 kids in attendance.
Because we are what is considered to be in the desert, the sun was shinning bright at 78 degrees. We had a short time of worship then “Señor Corazon” (Mr. Heart) made his appearance. A group of kids sang a love song and released some red balloons while the other children bursted in applause.
My workers presented me with a birthday cake and a Happy Birthday banner written in French. Then we proceeded to feed the children. As some of them came into the feeding station, others stayed outside with some of the workers to play games. I put on my apron, my running shoes and joined my volunteers to feed the children quesedillas, spaghetti (mexican version) chocolate cake and punch.
Pastors Martin & Claudia
were at the gate giving each child a bag of candy as they left. Afterwards we closed the doors of the feeding station and I made sure my workers sat down to eat. I had the privilege to serve many of them. Then, as they ate my birthday cake, I sat on a makeshift high stool and I reviewed the upcoming activities.
My leaders are excited and encouraged that in the next few weeks, some friends of the ministry are taking time off their busy schedules to spend time with us on the mission field. It was an awesome day. To God be the glory for great things He has done!
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
